|Japanese embroidery from magazines|
I've been trying my hand at embroidery recently and finding it really fun. I've done projects from Embroidery Companion
and Scandinavian Needlecraft
, but I really love designing my own. I'm inspired by the simplicity and mundane subjects of Japanese embroidery projects found in craft magazines and books
. The idea of embroidering something as simple as a broom or a hairbrush had never occurred to me, but I think it's fabulous. The projects below were an exercise in simplicity, based on line drawings I did and completed only using the backstitch.
